HAWK Signals

HAWK

The HAWK Signal is a new kind of signal designed to help pedestrians cross busy streets.  HAWK stands for High-intensity Activated crossWalK (it is also known as a Pedestrian Hybrid Beacon). HAWK signals operate only when a pedestrian activates it. This allows traffic to move freely for most of the day, while providing a safe crossing when needed.

Montana's first HAWK signal will be installed at the intersection of 4th Avenue North & N. 20th Street in conjunction with the opening of the GSA Federal Building.
