Billings Blue

The Billings Blue initiative was designed by a Billings Metro VISTA member, Erica Zutz, in 2014 to benefit local military families through the expansion of services and resources. The project goal is to support military service members by celebrating and showing appreciation for their service and expand and enhance supportive services for those in need.

Billings Mayor Hanel proclaimed November 2014 "Active Military Family Support Month." See the signed proclamation here.

Military Child Care Assistance Program

A partnership was developed with Veterans of Foreign Wars (V.F.W.) Post 1634 to raise funds for and create a Military Child Care Assistance Program for military families in need of financial aid for child care costs. Families interested in applying for child care grants may download an application packet for submission to VFW Post 1634.

Veteran Stand Down

The participation of over 40 community service providers annually creates a one-stop destination for local veterans to receive donated items, collect resource materials, and meet one-on-one with service providers. Stand Down events are generally held in Billings each October.

VISTA members have recruited the support of many local, regional and even national organizations who have each agreed to honor discounts to military members, veterans and their families. Showing a valid military ID at the time of purchase will result in discounts on dining, apparel, shoes, outdoor gear, entertainment, home and auto, kids stuff, fitness, camping, jewelry, craft supplies, hair cuts, photography, cleaning services...and the list goes on! A complete list of organizations committed to assisting local service members is available for download here.
