Library Collections & Resources
The Library's various collections contain more than 200,000 items, most of which can be checked out by patrons, including:
  • Over 100,000 books
  • About 200 magazines
  • More than 20,000 movies and documentaries
  • More than 7,000 music CDs
  • More than 3,500 audiobooks
  • A steadily-increasing number of electronic books available through Montana Library2Go

Adult Collections: Fiction & Non-fiction Books & Movies
Of all the Library's books, about one-third is adult non-fiction arranged using the Dewey Decimal System for organization by subject. Another one-third is adult fiction (novels) arranged alphabetically by author's last name. The non-fiction section has about 5,000 biographies arranged in alphabetical order by the name of the subject person. Adult Fiction and Non-fiction are on the second floor.

Large Type Books

In addition to the second floor adult collection, there are over 10,000 Large Type books both fiction and non-fiction on the first floor.

Audio-Visual Section

The Audio-Visual section on the first floor has more than 20,000 DVD movies and documentaries, around 7,000 music CDs, about 3,500 audiobooks, and close to 300 graphic novels. If you like to set up book discussion groups, there are also a hundred or so book club kits available for check-out, with 10 copies of the book plus a discussion guide.

Children's Collections
The Children's Department collections consist of more than 72,000 items in non-fiction, fiction, videos, and magazines geared to readers from kindergarten to 14 years, for the benefit of younger readers. There are also materials for parents and home-schoolers.

Computers & Internet

There are eight filtered Internet stations in the Children's Department. Each computer also has Microsoft Office installed.

Young Adult Services
The Teen collection is located on the second floor and contains more than 8,000 items divided into fiction (including graphic novels and paperback books), non-fiction, biographies, magazines, reference, and music. The collection is geared to the 14 to 18 age group. There are 2 study rooms available for reserve, which are popular places for group study and homework.

Computers & Internet

There are eight filtered Internet stations, all equipped with Microsoft Office and available for use by those 18 years old and under. Teens may also enjoy using the TECH Lab, a teen-only lab focused on activities in the area of science, technology, engineering, art and math.
