  5. Cinematic Escapes! "Science : Art" - OCTOBER SKY

    July 31, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM @ Library 1st floor Community Room

"October Sky" may not have been Jake Gyllenhaal's first movie, but it certainly put him on the road to leading-man status. In this 1999 film he plays real-life author and scientist Homer Hickam as a teenager growing up in coal country. When Sputnik is launched, it inspires Homer and his friends to take up rocketry, much to his father's dismay. This film would be a great night out for families with older children, and is rated PG.
