  2. READ to a Dog

    February 6, 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM @ Story Tower

    Each child will sign up for one 15 minute time with a dog of their choice. Sign up happens on the day of the program. READ to a Dog program is a chance for children to read to a dog one on one. Sometimes, children may have a difficult time reading, and reading to a dog can bring a feeling of non-judgment, which makes reading a more relaxing and fun experience. With bringing the Intermountain Therapy dogs here, it creates that relaxed feeling in a safe and comfortable environment. READ to a Dog is an affiliate program of Reading Education Assistance Dogs® of Intermountain Therapy Animals of Salt Lake City, Utah. We thankfully recognize the Otto and Yvonne Mansfield Endowment at St. Vincent Healthcare Foundation for providing the funding for this program. The Mansfields had a great love of animals and would be very pleased to support READ. We would also like to thank the Billings Public Library Foundation for coordinating the efforts of making this gift possible.

  4. Paracord "Survival" Bracelet

    Learn to construct your own paracord survival bracelet, then make a bracelet that will be part of a care package sent to our deployed troops serving overseas. Take a few moments to write them a thank you note to be sent with their bracelet. Our thank you notes and paracord bracelets will be sent to Operation Gratitude, a nonprofit organization that supports veterans and active duty military through care packages and volunteer programs. This is a great opportunity to show our troops that we care! No sign-up required. All supplies provided.

  14. Mentor Led Classes for Montana Code/Montana Tech Program

    Montana Tech University and Code Montana have partnered to offer incoming freshman to MT Tech a scholarship if they study computer science. In order to qualify for the scholarship, freshman need to complete a computer coding program that consists of multiple learning modules. One of the TECH Lab mentors will be leading teens through these modules in order to teach them about computer coding, and get them a scholarship if they plan on attending MT Tech!     The TECH Lab has a couple of K’nex kits, so we’re going to break out our Roller Coaster Design kit and build a giant roller coaster! It will be a fun few days of physics and engineering.
