ELECTRICIAN I/II/III
PUBLIC WORKS – WASTEWATER DIVISION

The City of Billings Public Works Department is seeking an industrial maintenance electrician to perform maintenance and repair of high voltage systems and machinery; and installation, calibration, programming, preventative maintenance and repair of a wide variety of electronic components and instruments used in the City’s water and wastewater systems. The successful applicant must have knowledge of principles, theory and practices applied to electrical and electronics maintenance and repair; and the ability to apply this knowledge to the maintenance and repair of a variety of complex electrical and electronic systems. Preference may be given to applicants with an associate’s degree in electrical or electronics technology or an equivalent certified training program. After a sufficient training period, the position will be required to serve in an on-call rotation with other Electricians.

Standard hours of work are 7:30 am – 4:00 pm, Monday – Friday.

All City of Billings positions are subject to pre-employment drug testing.

Starting Salary Range: $14.38 – $18.44/hour. Salary at hiring will be dependent upon the applicant’s education and experience. Excellent benefits are provided.

Required Qualifications:

--High School diploma or equivalent
--Valid State of Montana driver’s license
--One year of related work experience in electrical and electronic repair and maintenance
--Associate’s degree in electrical or electronics technology or an equivalent certified training program preferred
--Ability to perform variety of demanding physical activities including working in confined spaces and heights and being medically capable of working while using an air purifying respirator
