Affordable Care Act (ACA) Help

The open enrollment period for health insurance coverage through the Affordable Care Act runs from November 15, 2014 through February 15, 2015.  This act may give more Americans access to reliable, high-quality medical care, while advancing programs to hold costs in check.  Provisions of the law include: insurance subsidies for consumers; transparent exchanges to shop for insurance; new rules protecting consumers from insurance abuses; increased Medicare payments for physicians; and more.

Health Insurance Marketplace
The Health Insurance Marketplace is designed to make buying health coverage easier and more affordable. The Marketplace allows consumers to compare health insurance plans, get answers to health care questions, find out about tax credits, and enroll in a health plan.

Getting help:  Montana Navigators
Navigators are organizations that assist consumers in evaluating options for enrolling in plans in the Affordable Care Act. From the HHS News Release:

“Navigators are trained to provide unbiased information in a culturally competent manner to consumers about health insurance, the new Health Insurance Marketplaces, qualified health plans, and public programs including Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program. The Navigator funding opportunity announcement was open to eligible private and public groups and people who are self-employed who met certain standards to promote effectiveness, diversity, and program integrity.

Navigators will be required to adhere to strict security and privacy standards – including how to safeguard a consumer’s personal information.”

Rural Health Development - Montana Health Network
Rural Health Development is a non-profit consortium of rural health care providers established in 1990 with a strong network of relationships enabling them to bring value to healthcare through cost savings, research and development of products and services in under served Frontier communities. Rural Health Development will provide enrollment assistance, through member health care providers, in eastern Montana.
