Affordable Care Act (ACA) Help

The open enrollment period for health insurance coverage through the Affordable Care Act runs through March 31, 2014.  This act may give more Americans access to reliable, high-quality medical care, while advancing programs to hold costs in check.  Provisions of the law include: insurance subsidies for consumers; transparent exchanges to shop for insurance; new rules protecting consumers from insurance abuses; increased Medicare payments for physicians; and more. The law goes fully into effect in 2014.

Area residents will find sign-up assistance from trained navigators in the Library's computer classroom on:

Montana Navigators
The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services has announced the grantee organizations in Montana that will serve as “navigators” for consumers seeking assistance in evaluating options for enrolling in plans in the Affordable Care Act – Health Insurance Marketplace this fall. From the HHS News Release:

“Navigators are trained to provide unbiased information in a culturally competent manner to consumers about health insurance, the new Health Insurance Marketplaces, qualified health plans, and public programs including Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program. The Navigator funding opportunity announcement was open to eligible private and public groups and people who are self-employed who met certain standards to promote effectiveness, diversity, and program integrity.

Navigators will be required to adhere to strict security and privacy standards – including how to safeguard a consumer’s personal information.”

Consumers will be able to access assistance from a Navigator by scheduling an appointment or as a walk-in to a PPMT health center, calling a hotline or by video conferencing.

Rural Health Development - Montana Health Network
Rural Health Development is a non-profit consortium of rural health care providers established in 1990 with a strong network of relationships enabling them to bring value to healthcare through cost savings, research and development of products and services in under served Frontier communities.
