The City of Billings has four compensation ranges. All employees are eligible for annual step increases up to the maximum at Step 7.
- Teamsters
- Teamster employees receive a 5% annual increase taking them to the next step in pay.
- Annual COLA increases are received on July 1, per their collective bargaining agreement.
- Management (Non-Union)
- Management employees receive annual increases from 0 – 5% based on merit and can be between steps in the pay matrix.
- COLA increases require City Council approval and, if approved, are received annually on July 1.
- Police
- Police Department employee increases taking them to the next step in pay are based on years of service.
- Annual COLA increases are received on July 1 per their collective bargaining agreement.
- Fire
- Fire Department employees generally receive a 5% annual increase taking them to the next step in pay.
- Annual COLA increases are received on July 1st per their collective bargaining agreement.
