Payroll

Pay Days

The City of Billings distributes paychecks bi-weekly, every other Friday. Each pay period covers 14 days, beginning on a Monday and ending on the second Sunday. Checks are dispersed five calendar days after the end of the pay period.

The department head, division head, or designated employee pick up and distribute the paychecks.

Compensatory Time

Eligible non-exempt employees may accrue compensatory time at the rate of one and one-half times the overtime hours worked, in lieu of overtime payment. This service is optional and must have department head approval.  Compensatory time accruals cannot exceed the established limits of maximum compensatory time.

To receive a compensatory time payment, employees must submit a Comp Time Cash Out Request Form to Human Resources by 5:00 pm on the Friday prior to the payday you are requesting to have it processed, or the employee can use the cash out option in their electronic time entry.
