EMERGENCY SERVICES OPERATOR - HIRING POOL
This is a training position that will, upon successful completion of the (approximately 16 week) training period, lead to positions as both an emergency Call Taker and Dispatcher. Examples of daily work duties include receipt of emergency telephone calls; prioritization of emergency telephone calls; preparation and entry of official public safety reports in a Computer Aided Dispatch system; entry and retrieval of data from the Criminal Justice Information Network and the National Crime Information Center; radio procedure and operation in accordance with FCC regulations. The applicant must be able to think clearly in emergency situations; must have a clear, distinct voice to transmit information; must be able to sit for long periods of time; must be available for shift work; and must maintain a phone. The Billings City-County Communication Center is a 24 hour a day operation; as a result, hours and days of work will vary. Upon successful completion of the training period, working overtime will be a common and frequent occurrence and is a condition of employment.
• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to type 40 WPM without error
• Accurate typing-form fill & contact data entry at 97 keystrokes per minute
