Billings Senior volleyball visits Billings Fire Station 4 to take on firefighter workout

The Billings Senior High School varsity volleyball team went somewhere no other local high school sports team has gone before, to the fire station for a firefighter-inspired workout!

The team's goal this year is to get involved in the community. A team mom reached out and pitched the idea for the workout. Firefighters Josiah Laszloffy and Jay Bueter created several stations and the girls had to complete two rounds. They were impressed by the team's strength and speed.

"One of the events we did, we dragged a section of the LDH (large diameter fire hose), with the 45-pound plate on top of it, but we had to add another one because they said it was too easy,” Laszloffy said.

The team wrapped up the workout by challenging the firefighters to a friendly competition, putting them through the stations to find out who could complete a round the fastest.

"I’m so grateful they were willing to do this. One of our core values is not volleyball related at all, it’s ‘We strive to do better to be better,’ and one of the biggest things I wanted to do coming into this program is really emphasize how important it is to be involved in your community. Because when you’re a varsity volleyball player, you have all of these people who are supporting you, so being able to give back in any way that we can is really important," said Courtney Bad Bear, head of the Senior High volleyball program.

As a thank you, the team served the fire station dinner.

Thank you for joining our Billings Firefighters, and GO BRONCS!
